People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) is the largest animal right organisation in the world, which has over 6.5 million members and supporters. PETA focuses on the largest numbers of animals that suffer the most intensely and for the longest periods of time . This includes in laboratories, food industry, clothing trade, as well as the entertainment industry. PETA also focus on the cruel killing of rodents, birds and other animals that are considered as "pests" and cruelty to domesticated animals (PETA, 2020).

 

To raise awareness, PETA work through public education, cruelty investigations, research, animal rescue, legislation, special events, celebrity involvement and protest campaigns.
